I shall be talking about and signing my book at the Hunting Raven bookshop in Frome on Independent Market day on Sunday, 1st April, 12-30-2pm. Hope it doesn't snow!
Professor Ron Hutton says of Flesh and Bones: "it is indeed most unusual for a historical novel in the depth of its scholarly apparatus and written with an exceptionally vivid, and as far as my slightly inexpert eye can tell, accurate, reconstruction of the historical background. Its relish for the West Country landscapes is also evident and pleases me deeply as a local."
First review on Amazon, 5 star, gratefully received. It's a long review and includes the words "This is a remarkable and beautiful book". Ta JP!
Mary Macarthur, Chair of Frome Writers Collective, has done an interview with me. You can find it on www.fromewriterscollective.co.uk Thanks Mary!
Snow and ice means no independent market on 4th March, so no stall in the Cheese and Grain and no signing at Hunting Raven. Will try again with books and signing when spring really has arrived.
Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire. Medieval tythe barn owned by Shaftesbury Abbey and the ? late tenth century church of St Lawrence, built probably for the Shaftesbury nuns as a place of refuge against the second large wave of Vikings and for their important relics, including Edward the Martyr who was killed at Corfe. Aethelred wanted them to be safe, presumably from sea invasion.
