A fillip arrives in the post: the SAA (Society for All Artists) wants to see a painting for final judging for its Artist of the Year 2014 competition. (See above, "Church Jugs". Each time I get something like this I have a tremendous glow of pleasure and gratitude towards the invisible beings who decide what looks good on a wall, for whatever reason. It makes all the difficulties and disappointments fade away. So keep on entering things. Like children, these are creations you have set free for others to enjoy as well as yourself and a bit more beauty or thoughtfulness out there, visible, in the world is no bad thing. Overcome your natural modesty and fear, get something you think is worthwhile out there! You may be surprised at your own abilities and rewarded for the happy/difficult time you spent painting. If you don't put things on a wall, you'll never know what gift of pleasure you might have given to those invisible viewers.
Latest obsession: Kandinsky.
