Took me about three hours overall, with a break near the end to have a swim during which I made some adjustments in my mind and dreamed up its title, as suddenly the old song La Mer popped into my head and stayed there. Something about the picture behind the foliage....was desperate to get home and finish painting with this in mind.
Can anyone please tell me what the twangy African instrument in the foreground is called? I was given it by the chap who worked in our house in Nyala, Darfur, Sudan, in 1983 as I left. Probably a very treasured possession. I learned some valuable lessons about what is essential out there.
Answer: it's called a lamellophone thumb piano but I prefer its other name, mbira.
